PLAYER SAFETY UPDATE... PLEASE READ

Due to inclement weather and with the safety of players and staff in mind, we will be canceling the remainder of the Amateur Invitational Championship.

The World Pickleball Tour staff will be on site at the Oasis Pickleball Club from 11 AM - 3 PM to answer questions and fulfill purchases.

As stated on the tournament landing page on PickleballBrackets, we audited all events after December 15, 2023 using our rating system of record: WPR, or World Pickleball Rating. When the WPR for a player was absent, we utilized PBR.

We conducted this audit to do our absolute best to eliminate “sandbagging.” Please know this is something we’re trying to eliminate as we encourage our players to embrace the spirit of this great sport.

Players were moved up a skill level in the following circumstances:

Their WPR and/or PBR were greater than or equal to .26 points higher than their registered event.

Example: A player’s WPR was 3.35 as of December 15, 2023, but they won a medal and registered for 3.0 Men’s Singles in June 2023. This player was moved up to 3.5 as they are closer to that skill level than 3.0.

Their WPR was absent, and their PBR was greater than or equal to .26 points higher than their registered event.

Example: A player’s WPR was not listed in the system, but they registered for 4.5 Women’s Singles. Although the WPR was not listed, their PBR was 4.76 in singles. This player would be moved into 5.0 singles.

Players will not be re-assigned once they have been moved.

If you find a player whom you believe is incorrectly placed in an event (i.e. a 4.5 in a 3.0 bracket), please let us know. DUPR will not be used to make ratings assessments except in specific cases where WPR or PBR ratings are absent.

Withdrawals thru December 15, 2023 will receive a refund less a $30 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for any reason after December 15, 2023.

The cash payout structure will be as follows:

17 teams + - $1,500

16 teams - $1,400

15 teams - $1,400

14 teams - $1,300

13 teams - $1,300

12 teams - $1,200

11 teams - $1,200

10 teams - $1,100

9 teams - $1,100

8 teams - $1,000

7 teams - $1,000

6 teams - $900

5 teams - $800

4 teams - $800

All 3 medalists will receive payouts. We will be utilizing a 50-30-20 payout split. Medalists will also receive a 2024 WPT Tournament Entry Certificate, good for $70 toward any (1) tournament of their choosing in 2024.

Example: In 5.0 Men’s Singles 40+, Frank won gold, Bob won silver, and Jim won bronze. The 5.0 40+ bracket was originally 16 teams split into two pools with an 8-team single elimination bracket. In this case, Frank would win $700 plus a $70 gift certificate. Bob would win $420 plus a $70 gift certificate. Jim would win $280 plus a $70 gift certificate.

Medals will be awarded at the completion of both the Gold and Bronze Medal Matches at the championship photo backdrop. Medal recipients will be texted and/or announced over the PA system approximately 15 minutes after the completion of the medal round.

If a player/team is unable to stay for the medal ceremony, they can return the following day to receive their medal (through Sunday) or it can be mailed.

Players who are unable to finish their bracket due to inclement weather after it has begun will be issued a 50% event fee refund in the form of WPT tournament credit.

If a bracket has not started and is canceled due to schedule changes from weather, players will be issued a 100% event fee refund in the form of WPT tournament credit.

In the event an entire tournament day is canceled, the World Pickleball Tour will be unable to reschedule play on a subsequent day. All players who were registered for a day that was completely canceled due to inclement weather will be issued a 100% event fee refund in WPT tournament credit, along with a 50% registration fee refund in USD if they are only signed up for one event.
