Welcome to the 2nd Annual Southern Slam 2024 - winter edition. Held in Gore in beautiful Southland.

Fri 12 July:

- singles competition (Open male, female, super 60+) starts at 4pm

- medals awarded at close of play

Sat 13 July:

- doubles competition (Open A & B Grade male & female / super 60+ ) starts at 9am

- medals awarded at close of play

Sun 14 July:

- mixed doubles competition (Open A & B Grade, super 60+) starts at 9am

- medals awarded at close of play

All games round robin to 15 win by 2. Medal matches best 2 out of 3 to 11, win by 2.

Matches will be recorded with DUPR. We ask that you enter your DUPR rating when you set up your profile and we will use this for pool seeding. We also recommend you enter your DUPR ID in the profile set up

1st, 2nd and 3rd Place participants are eligible for prize money. Each division is allocated different amounts which is decided by the number of entrants in to the tournament. Skill levels over 3.5 age 5-59 is considered the higher skill bracket and will be compensated with higher prize money.

Fees:

- Early Bird Registration = $30 per person 8 April - 12 May 2024

- Registration fee = $35 per person (pp) After 12 May 2024

- Event fee = $25 per event pp

- There is an additional Pickleball Brackets fee of $8.50 per event.

Facilities:

- MLT Event Centre at the Gore Multisports Complex. Three courts are on a wood sprung floor and the others on a Synpave surface.

- There are toilets, showers and changing rooms available on site, water filling stations on site

- Pool and ice rink

- There is plenty of free parking available at the venue and there will be a grandstand for spectators

- We highly suggest booking accommodation as soon as possible as there are limited options close by.

- There will be food options onsite as well as local food outlets.

- It is winter in the deep south so warm clothing is recommended.

Officiating:

- All games will be self-scored, apart from gold medal matches.

- We will be using the Official USA Pickleball Rulebook, available https://usapickleball.org/what-is-pickleball/official-rules/

Tournament fees are refundable until registration closes, with the exception of Service fee (payable to PickleballBrackets).

Indoor venue

Health and Safety is everyone's responsibility. You need to agree to a health and safety liability waiver as part of the registration process. A health and safety briefing will be provided at the tournament as part of the players' briefing.
