The Sarasota Sun Open, A Pickleball "PAWty" is hosted by Sun Outdoors to benefit the Humane Society of Sarasota County and will take place November 2-5, 2023 under the direction of Julie Stewart.

Thursday, November 2: Coed Scramble Round Robins & All Participant "PAWty" with Open Play for Participants on 8 courts. Each player will receive a free drink ticket good for Thursday night!

The Coed Scramble Round Robins are for beginners (All Ages, Skill: 1.2-2.5) and Intermediate (All Ages, Skill: 2.6-3.4). Check-in begins at 4pm. Player announcements at 5pm and play begins at 5:30pm.

Friday, November 3: Senior Day

Men & Women's Divisions for those 50+

8am Senior Men 4.5, 50+

8am Senior Women 3.5, 60+

Don't forget, the Thursday night "PAWty" is for all tournament participants. Enjoy a complimentary beverage courtesy of Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, visit with sponsors, and take advantage of open court time with DJ music. Food available for purchase. Plus, our beginner and intermediate round robin events get under way. The PAWty starts at 4pm, play begins at 5:30. The 10-minute per match, co-ed format is a super-fun way to try your skills at the game and meet new people! No partners needed, you will be paired for each 10-minute game with a different player and opponent!

Friday is our Senior Day with play lasting approximately 8am to 5pm.

Then join us for mixed doubles Saturday for skill levels 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. Age groups include 19-34, 35-49, 50-59, and 60+ for this tournament!

Then Sunday is Men's and Women's Doubles for age groups 19-34 and 35-49!

The tournament will be played on 12 courts conveniently located next to the Pickleball Pavilion where you can get out of the sun! Restrooms on-site, parking nearby. Food & Beverage service is available on-site from Sun Outdoors, they will be taking orders at the pavilion. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on if you plan to watch at the courts. Limited seating available in the pavilion.

Please bring your own water and water bottles. There is a drinking fountain on-site. Snacks permitted.

This is a fundraiser for a great cause! There are no refunds.

Please consider your entry a donation to benefit the Humane Society of Sarasota County. We do appreciate notification if you are unable to play!

If you can't play day, please try to find your own sub. If you can't find a sub, please let us know right away by e-mailing jlimoges@hssc.org.

Prize payout will be a minimum of 65% of registration & entry fees collected. (1st Place - 30%, 2nd Place - 20%, 3rd Place - 10%). Total prize payout subject to entries.

Based on 8 teams per division, the payout would be:

1st Place - $300

2nd Place - $200

3rd Place - $100

This is an outdoor event.

In the event we are not able to hold the Sarasota Sun Open due to inclement weather or some unforeseen circumstance, your entry will be considered a donation to the Humane Society of Sarasota County.

First aid supplies will be on-site. An ER is less than one mile away.
