2025 Grand Rapids BEER CITY OPEN Pickleball Championships

Registration is scheduled to open on April 10, 2025 at 10am and will be a Lottery System again for 2025. Registration will be open from April 10th to April 13th. Lottery results will be announce on or before April 21, 2025.
Major League Pickleball's Mid-Season Tournament is schedule to be played at Belknap Park in conjunction with the 2025 BEER CITY OPEN.
2025 format will be Single Elimination with Consolation. More commonly known as "US Open Format” with no come around. Finalists of the Winner's Bracket will play for the Gold Medal and all 1 loss teams will play for the Bronze Medal.
All Amateur Singles matches will be one game to 15, including the medal matches
Amateur Doubles Matches will be best 2 of 3 games to 11 in the main draw and one game to 15 for all Consolation Matches, except the Bronze Medal Matches which will be 2 of 3 games to 11.
Round Robin may be used for small brackets if necessary. RR matches may be one game to 15 or another format as determined by the TD.
The 2025 Beer City Open will be following all USA Pickleball Rules, including approved paddles.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
--There will not be any Senior Pro Events in 2025.
--Grounds Passes will be needed the access the facility for all Non Players Thursday through Sunday.
--Grounds Passes for players are included with Registration for day of play only!!
--The BCO will continue to Referee as many matches as possible with a goal of 100%
Ball - Dura Fast 40 Neon is the Official Tournament Ball of the 2025 Beer City Open
We will be using DUPR as the Rating System.
You will need to have a partner when registering during the lottery in order to be selected for a draw.

****PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY IN MORE THAN ONE AMATEUR SINGLES, DOUBLES AND MIXED DOUBLES EVENT, EVEN IF THEY ARE ON DIFFERENT DAYS. IF IT'S DISCOVERED THAT YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR MORE THAN ONE YOU WILL HAVE TO CHOOSE WHICH ONE YOU WANT TO PLAY!!!**** To clarify, you can play in a Singles, a MXD and a Gender Doubles Event.

Tuesday, July 8, 2025 - Sr Men's Doubles Day
Men's Doubles 50+, 60+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels.
MD - 70+ 3.5 and under & 4.0 and above
You are not able to play in this event and any under 50 MD Events
Wednesday, July 9, 2025. - Sr Mixed Doubles Day
Mixed Doubles 50+, 60+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels.
MXD - 70+ 3.5 and under & 4.0 and above
You are not able to play in this event and any under 50 MXD Events
Thursday, July 10, 2025. - All Women's Doubles Day
Women's Doubles, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels.
WD - 70+ 3.5 and under & 4.0 and above
Friday, July 11, 2025. - All Singles Day
All Men's Singles, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels.
All Women's Singles, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels.
Saturday, July 12, 2025 - Under 50 Mixed Doubles Day
Mixed Doubles, 19+ & 35+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels
You may not play in the Amateur MXD 50+ and this event.
Sunday, July 13, 2025 - Under 50 Men's Doubles Day
Men's Doubles, 19+ & 35+, 3.5 - 5.0 skill levels
You may not play in the Amateur MD 50+ and this event.
(You may not play in more than 1 event on the same day)
While we prefer to play all matches outdoors at Belknap Park, we do have an indoor backup facility in the Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness Club. We have lights at Belknap Park and will do everything possible to play all matches at Belknap.
The GRRF has the same surface and we will continue to use the same ball if we go indoors.
Belknap Park has 14 courts and the GRRF has between 8 & 20 if we need them. Hopefully we would not need to shorten the matches if we go indoors.

Leaving Belknap Park – Turn left on Coldbrook, at blinking red light, turn right on Plainfield Ave and go 6.4 miles to 4940 Plainfield, should take about 20 min.
We will not be able to make changes based on changes to ratings after registration date!
REFUNDS:
There will be a $10 service fee on any refunds to cover administration costs and PayPal fees.
Pickleballbrackets.com charges a Service Fee of $5 per event for Amateurs with a max of $10. This is a PBB fee and is not refundable by the BEER CITY OPEN.

Major League Pickleball will be holding their MLP Mid-Season Tournament in conjunction with the BCO. A Grounds Pass will be required to enter the facility Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All players and volunteers will get a Grounds Pass on days they play or volunteer. Link to passes can be found on the MLP and BCO Websites.
