USSP thanks our tournament partner, Pickleball Is Great for providing operational support for the 2024 USSP South West Zone Championship presented by Humana powered by Pickleball Is Great.

A special thank you to Humana for being the title sponsor for the USSP Championship Series of tournaments for 2024.

USSP South West Zone Championships is an Age/Skill tournament for ages 50+, ages are in 5-year increments. AGE SPLITS WILL BE COMPLETED AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES. If Ages are combined medals will be awarded to players in each 5 year age split. Events will be held for Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles as well as Mixed Doubles.

Registration plus $15 for each event. USSP/SSIPA members will receive a $10 discount. Registration opens on June 1st, 2024 and closes on October 20th, 2024.

This tournament is US Senior Pickleball approved.

The tournament will limit registration to 600 players, or when the tournament director deems the day’s events are full.

Brackets/Events will be round robin with pool play for events with large numbers of teams, single elimination brackets to follow.

Brackets/Events will be round robin ONLY (Pool play for events split into pools - usually 8 or more teams, single elimination brackets to follow.)

Players are guaranteed 3 matches per event.

The Tournament Director Reserves the right to change the format of play as needed.

Format Info:

MASTERS DIVISION (50+55+60+)

50 + - 64 / 3 teams will play a double round robin and not lead into playoffs. Medals awarded based on results

50+ - 64 / 4, 5 & 6 team brackets will play a straight round robin. 1 game to 15 win by 2. The top 4 teams will move forward. 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3. Games to 15 win by 2 The winners will play for gold/silver and losers play for bronze. The gold/silver will be best 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2 and the bronze match will be 1 game to 15 win by 2.

50+ - 64 / 7, 8 & 9 team brackets will play a straight round robin, 1 game to 11 win by 2. The top 4 teams will move forward. 1 vs 2 for gold/silver – will be best 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2, and 3 vs 4 for bronze with 1 game to 15 win by 2.

50+ - 64 / 10+ teams will play pool play. 1 game to 15 win by 2. The top 2 teams from each pool will move forward. 1 vs 2 and 2 vs 1 will play 1 game to 15 win by 2. The winners will play for gold/silver – will be best 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2 and the losers will play for bronze 1 game to 15 win by 2.

LEGENDS DIVISION (65+70+75+80+)

65+ - 80+ / 3 teams will play a double round robin and not lead into playoffs. Medals awarded based on results.

65+ - 80+ / 4 and 5 team brackets will play a straight round robin. Best 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2. Medals awarded based on results.

65+ - 80+ / 6 and 7 team brackets will play a straight round robin. 1 game to 11 win by 2. The top 4 teams will move forward. 1 vs 2 for gold/silver – games will be 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2 and 3 vs 4 for bronze with 1 game to 15 win by 2.

65+ - 80+ / 8+ team brackets will play pool play. Top 2 teams from each pool will move forward. 1 vs 2 and 2 vs 1 with 1 game to 15 win by 2. Winners will play for gold/silver – games 2 of 3 to 11 win by 2 and bronze will play 1 game to 15 win by 2.

USSP has a points system to award prizes to the top finishers each year (USSP members only). In the past, prizes with a retail value of $20,000 were awarded to the top 10-point winners in each age group for both men and women on an annual cycle.

No cash will be awarded.

On-Site vendor spots by the Pueblo El Mirage Club

Refunds will be available up to 2 weeks before the tournament registration closing. All refunds will be charged a $15 processing fee. Emergency refunds will be issued based on documentation and tournament director approval.

This is an outdoor tournament. There will be no refunds for weather related cancellations.
