2024 Grand Rapids BEER CITY OPEN Pickleball Championships

Registration is scheduled to open on Wednesday, April 10th at 10am and will be a Lottery System for 2024. Registration will be open from Wed, April 10th at 10am to Sat, April 13th at 11:55pm. Lottery results will be announce on or before Monday, April 22nd.

MLP Mid-Season Tournament is schedule to be played at Belknap Park in conjunction with the 2024 BEER CITY OPEN.

All Amateur Singles matches will be one game to 15, including the medal matches

Amateur Double Elimination Matches will be best 2 of 3 games to 11 in the main draw and one game to 15 for all Opportunity Bracket Matches, including the Bronze Medal Matches.

Round Robin may be used for small brackets if necessary. RR matches may be one game to 15 or another format as determined by the TD.

Senior Pro Events will play a Double Elimination without a come around. USAP calls this format a Single Elimination with Consolation (US Open Format)

If you play in a Sr Pro event, you will not be able to play in the same amateur event. If there is space available the TD reserve the right to allow it based upon a players rating and past results.

You may not play in the Amateur MD 50+ and this event.

While we prefer to play all matches outdoors at Belknap Park, we do have an indoor backup facility for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness Club. We have lights and will do everything possible to play all matches at Belknap.

The GRRF has the same surface and we will continue to use the same ball if we go indoors.

Belknap Park has 18 courts and the GRRF has up to 20 if we need them, however there may be times that we cannot use all of the courts at GRRF.

INDOOR BACK UP FACILITY - For Friday, Saturday & Sunday's matches ONLY

Leaving Belknap Park – Turn left on Coldbrook, at blinking red light, turn right on Plainfield Ave and go 6.4 miles to 4940 Plainfield, should take about 20 min.

We will not be able to make changes based on changes to ratings after registration date!

There will be a $10 service fee on any refunds to cover administration costs and PayPal fees.

Pickleballbrackets.com charges a Service Fee of $5 per event for Amateurs with a max of $10. This is a PBB fee and is not refundable by the BEER CITY OPEN. Normally the Pro Service Fee is $25/event, but we assume it will be $5 since the Pro Payout is less than $10,000.

All details are subject to change until Registration Opens.

If you lose your partner you will have a short period of time to find a replacement. If you choose not to play with the person you originally registered with, only one of you will be able to fill that spot. One of you will be placed on the waitlist if there is not room in a bracket.

FINAL DATE TO WITHDRAW AND RECEIVE A REFUND IS 7/1/2024

A processing fee of $10.00 will be incurred if you withdraw prior to the withdrawal deadline.

We are not able to refund the Pickleballbrackets.com service fee.

NO REFUNDS will be issued after the deadline of July 1st.

To officially withdraw, send an email to Brandon Schmeling-Registration Coordinator - let him know if you are withdrawing from an event or the entire tournament.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY - If weather is a factor, every effort will be made to play matches outdoors. However we do have an indoor backup facility at the Grand Rapids Racquet & Fitness Club for Friday, Saturday & Sunday's matches only. Same surface and same ball. There may be some days/times where the indoor facility has limited capacity. No refunds for cancellations due to weather.

Prize money to be paid out for the Sr Pro Events.

Sr Pro Divisions - MD, WD & MXD

$7,500+ in Sr Pro Prize Money

Based on minimum entrants of 8 teams per event

All Prize Money Checks will be mailed to winners following the event.

Registration for the 2024 BEER CITY OPEN will be using a Lottery. Registration will be open beginning Wednesday April 10th at 10:00am and run until Saturday, April 13th at 11:55pm. You may register at any point during this period. Timing of your registration will not impact the lottery results which are scheduled to be released on or before Monday, April 22nd.

You must indicate a partner at registration to be considered for entry into any doubles event. Both you and your partner must be registered, and the waiver signed to be eligible for the lottery.

If you are successful you will be given a period of time to make payment or you will automatically be moved to the Waitlist.

The 2024 BCO is once again a USAP Sanctioned Tournament and requires a current USAP Membership to compete. One reason for using a lottery this year is to give people time to make sure their accounts are in order. Please take the time to review your USAP Membership before registering.

We will be using UTPR for registration and seeding. Typically the BCO is a very tough tournament and we strongly recommend playing at the appropriate skill level. Lottery results will be random and not determined by a persons rating, however the Tournament Committee reserves the right to make adjustments if they feel someone is registered for an event significantly above, or below, their skill level.

Be sure to check your starting times as we have moved some of the brackets earlier!
