2024 DC DPR Pickleball Challenge and Senior Games

Mixed Doubles - Sunday, August 25th
The tournament will be held
INDOORS this year at the
Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, DC's premier indoor and outdoor tennis facility.
This tournament is a qualifying event for the National Senior Games in Des Moines, IA in 2025 for players competing in the 50 and over age groups for any skill level.
It is also part of the United Pickleball State Championships series, a set of tournaments conducted across all 50 states in the country. The Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists from each of these tournaments will automatically secure invitations to the year-end UPA World Championship in Dallas, TX. Registration fees will be waived for Gold medalists and reduced for Silver and Bronze Medalists.

Early Registration Fees:
DC Residents: $42.50 for one event, $57.50 for two events.
All Others: $52.50 for one event, $67.50 for two events.
Final Registration Fees Starting on July 1st:
DC Residents: $52.50 for one event, $67.50 for two events.
All Others: $62.50 for one event, $77.50 for two events.
A non-refundable PickleballBrackets.com software use fee of $2.50 for one event or $5.00 for more than one event will be charged in addition to the tournament registration fee.
All players registering by August 4th will receive a free tournament t-shirt.
Registration is open to players 10 years of age and over.

Registration opens on May 1, 2024
Registration is by skill level.
1. 3.0 and under - Teams with both players rated at 3.0 or under.
2. 3.5 - All teams with at least one 3.5 player and neither partner rated above 3.5
3. 4.0 - All teams with at least one 4.0 player and neither partner rated above 4.0.
4. 4.5 and above - All teams with at least one 4.5+ rated partner.
The rating that will be used for bracket placement is the higher of either the PickleballBrackets.com tournament rating, their World Pickleball rating or their DUPR rating.

Players without any tournament rating may self rate. Please seek the advice of an experienced fellow player when self rating or click the link below to view the USA Pickleball Definitions of Player Skill Ratings.
Skill levels for all players will be updated when registration closes. Players whose skill level has changed since they registered will be moved to a different skill level bracket.
For Senior events, age splits are set in 5 year increments starting at age 50. Groups may be combined to create playing brackets.
Age splits for events for younger players will be determined by registration numbers.
For All Ages: Teams must play in the age group of the younger partner and skill level of the higher rated partner.

For a GUARANTEED spot in an event, both partners must be registered. Beginning on June 1, 2024, players whose partners have not registered within 7 days of their registration, will be moved to the waiting list. Once their partner signs up, they will be moved back in IF THERE ARE SPOTS REMAINING IN THE BRACKET AND THE TOURNAMENT.
Players without partners after registration closes, WILL NOT be included in the event and will not be eligible for a refund. Encourage your partner to register early to secure your spot.
The tournament director reserves the right to move players and teams to appropriate skill levels.
Groups may be combined or split at the discretion of the tournament director.

Each day will begin with check in at 8:00 AM. Specific start times for events will be emailed and texted to players approximately one week prior to the tournament.
The tournament format is round robin for all events. Events with a large number of teams may be split into round robin pools followed by a playoff for the top teams in each pool. For events with two pools, the top teams in each pools will play each other for the Gold medal and the second place team in each pool will play each other for the Bronze medal.
The tournament reserves the right to modify the bracket format and number of rounds to comply with the guaranteed number of games per event.
