TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

This tournament will follow the rules and regulations set forth in the USA Pickleball Rulebook - Official Tournament, Revised January 2024.

Registration opens Tuesday, January 9, at 8:00am

Registration closes Monday, February 26, at 11:55pm

Early Bird Special for registration:

If you register by February 12 , the registration fee is $60.

After February 12, the registration fee will be $70.

Maximum number of events per player is 3.

Each additional event is $10.

You will receive a "2024 Bellaire Open" T-shirt at check-in and lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday for registered players.

Tournament Format:

Depending on number of registrants, format will either be a round robin or double pool round robin with bracket play.

**NOTE** In the case that we have four or less teams registered per event, we reserve the right to combine events with priority of skill OVER age. Medals will be presented to the top three individuals or teams for the combined event, as well as additional medals based on the players' original event.

The event has the right to shorten match formats if weather poses scheduling delays.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

Bellaire Pickleball events are outdoor events. If weather or any other unforeseen circumstance occurs, Bellaire Pickleball will do all it can to play matches. If brackets are in mid play when a weather or unforeseen circumstance occurs, the situation will be evaluated on a case by case basis to determine if the bracket may be finished or if winners may be determined.

Eliminating Sandbagging:

Please know this is something we’re trying to eliminate as we encourage our players to embrace the spirit of this great sport.

Players will be moved up a skill level in the following circumstances:

Their DUPR or PBR were greater than or equal to .26 points higher than their registered event.

Example: A player’s rating was 3.35 as of December 15, 2023, but they registered for 3.0 Men’s Singles. This player will be moved up to 3.5 as they are closer to that skill level than 3.0.

Players playing in the Bellaire Ladder League will also be moved according to the ladder league they are participating in.

Example: If both players play in 3.5 Bellaire Ladder League, but sign up for 3.0 skill level, they will be moved up to 3.5. If 1 partner plays in 4.0 and the other plays in 3.5, the team will be moved into the higher skill level, which in this case is 4.0.

WAITLIST

When registering for DOUBLES, the second signed up teammate MUST register within 7 days of the first player. If a teammate does not register within the specified time limit, the first player will be placed on the waiting list automatically. Emails will go out to both players when this happens. Once the second teammate registers they will be moved off the waiting list IF there is still room in the event.

EVENT MAX

If an event reaches the initial max team limit, please add yourself to the waitlist. Events will be expanded to more players/teams if there is space available in the event day. If events are combined, medals will be awarded based upon the original skill/age category players registered for.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday for registered players.

Refund Policy:

Refunds will be processed after the tournament is complete.

Registrants withdrawing before February 23, 2024, @ 12:00 pm will receive refund minus a $20.00 processing fee.

NO refunds after February 23, 2024, 12:01pm for registrant withdrawals.
