The Cortland Regional Sports Council presents the Empire State Senior Games Skill Level/Age Group Pickleball Tournament.
The National Senior Games Tournament has been moved from 2021 to 2022. The 2021 Empire State Senior Games is now a qualifying event for the national tournament.
The Empire State Senior Games Pickleball Tournament is Confirmed for June 16th through June 18th in Cortland
What is Happening Now
1. Court space and time is limited so general registration will not re-open.
2. All players who have been confirmed in the tournament have been notified. The final schedule will be sent to players and posted to this website on Friday, June 4th.
3. There are no refunds for withdrawals after May 31st.
We are still finalizing the list of Covid precautions that will be in place for the tournament. Those precautions will be mandated by the governing authorities including the State of New York, The Cortland County Health Department and the office of the SUNY Chancellor. You will receive a separate announcement with those details.
Dormitory housing will not be available this year. No other Empire State Senior Games events are being conducted at the same time as Pickleball.

Age groups are 5 year divisions from age 50 up.
Age is calculated as of 12/31/2021.
Skill levels are Division III 3.0-3.5, Division II 4.0 and Division I 4.5+

A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player and the age of the younger player.
The Senior PickleballBrackets.com rating will be used.
For new players with no rating, the PickleballBrackets.com self rating will be used.
Players who have official USAPA UTPR ratings but NO PickleballBrackets.com rating, MUST self rate using their UTPR rating.
Players with a UTPR that is higher than their Senior PickleballBrackets.com calculated tournament rating, may contact the tournament director to request to play up in that skill level event.

The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday - June 16, Women's Doubles and Men's Singles
Thursday - June 17, Mixed Doubles
Friday - June 18, Men's Doubles and Women's Singles
Competition each day will begin at 8:00 AM. Specific start times for each event will be posted and emailed to players approximately one week prior to the event.
The tournament format is round robin for events with a small number of teams. Games will be either to 11 or 15, win by 1.
For events with a large number of teams, there will be two or more seeded pools and the top two teams in each pool will advance to a playoff round to determine medal winners.
When age/skill groups are combined to create a playing bracket, medals will be awarded by the ORIGINAL age/skill group.
