South Jersey Open - 3rd Annual - Supporting the Gloucester County Animal Shelter
Tournament Description
The South Jersey Open Pickleball Tournament is a fund raising event for the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
The following Pickleball Events will be held at Atkinson Park in Sewell, NJ:
- Friday, Oct 4th (SINGLES)
- Saturday, Oct 5th (MENS and WOMENS DOUBLES)
- Sunday, Oct 6th (MIXED DOUBLES)
Matches may begin as early as 9am each day. There will be staggered start times and the start times will be announced a few days after registration closes.
Bracket Format (Amateur Only):
If there are 1-3 Teams - combine with another bracket(s)
If there are 4 teams -Double Round Robin, games to 11pts win by 2
If there are 5 teams- Round Robin, 1 game to 15pts win by 2
If there are 6-9 teams - Round Robin, 1 game to 11pts win by 2.
If there are 10 or more teams, Round Robin with 2-3 pools, format to be determined from above.
All Round Robins will have a playoff as well.
There will be skill and age brackets for all events, however, age brackets and/or skill level may be combined if needed to fill a bracket. Tournament Director reserves the right to combine skill/age groups, if necessary.
The OPEN Brackets will be playing a Double Elimination format and not a Round Robin Format will have prize money .
Free t-shirt with registration, if registered and paid by September 15, 2024.
Registration Fee: $60.
Events fees: $15 per amateur event and $45 per OPEN events with $30 of OPEN Event going to prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Pickleball Brackets fees - $5 per event with a $10 maximum charge. This fee is non-refundable if you withdraw and is paid directly to Pickleball Brackets.
Additional Information
Atkinson Park is an outdoor pickleball facility located in Sewell, NJ. There are 12 permanent pickleball courts and 8 tennis courts that can be converted into 16 pickleball courts for a total of 28 pickleball courts. If weather or any other unforeseen circumstance occurs, South Jersey Pickleball will do all it can to play matches.
An indoor facility, Players Courtyard in Moorestown, NJ, has been reserved for this tournament, if the weather does not cooperate and we need to go indoors.
This a non-sanctioned tournament but there will be referees on all medal matches. USAPA Official tournament rules apply. Matches that do not have referees will be called by the players. Any situation that cannot be resolved by the players on the court, should be directed to the Tournament Director who will be located at the score table desk.
For Doubles, if teammate does not register within 7 days, then the 1st player will be placed on the waiting list automatically. Emails will go out to both players when this happens.
Refund Policy
Up to September 6, 2024 - Full Refund minus $15 Administrative Fee plus Pickleball Brackets fees which are $5 per event with a max of $10.
September 7, 2024 and after - No Refund - Donation to Gloucester County Animal Shelter
An indoor facility has been reserved for this tournament, in case the weather does not cooperate. Therefore, games will be played at an indoor facility, if needed.
All refunds will be completed the week of the tournament.
Prize Money
The OPEN Brackets will use the additional $30/player to fund the prize money
with 60% for 1st place, 25% for 2nd place and 15% for 3rd place.
