Welcome to the Memorial Day AHG Slamboree! Paired with a holiday to recognize our heroes of the past, this is your chance to support the heroines of our future! Lizella Baptist is sponsoring a new chapter of American Heritage Girls (AHG) & Lizella Community Pickleball is coming alongside them to help defray uniform, dues and adventure costs for girls who may wish to join the troop but have financial hardship. It's our desire to make this an annual Memorial Day weekend event, and as we build it, we hope to be able to sponsor & support AHG troops in other neighborhoods across middle Georgia, particularly where there is greater need.

AHG teaches and encourages young girls to reach their potential through faith-based service, leadership, and adventure. Girls from K-12 learn to respect and honor their heritage as women in America, growing to take on cultural & interpersonal challenges with grace and strength. As part of our Memorial Day celebration, we will have festivities at the park for the whole family. There are enclosed playgrounds for the kids, and there will be fun family games, inflatables, mini-101 clinics, a possible dink-a-thon, a few vendors, and food--grilled burgers & snacks (players will receive a ticket for complimentary treats in their swag bag #PlayerPerks).

Players & fans may place small US flags around the track and courts in memory of fallen heroes.

The tournament will be played at Pirkle Park on the Lizella Baptist Church campus, with two permanent outdoor courts, two temporary indoor courts, and additional asphalt courts outside. If weather doesn't cooperate, Macon's indoor facility - Rhythm and Rally - is reserved as a backup. There are no pickleball rainouts in Macon, but we are hoping to celebrate Memorial Day at Pirkle Park!

SCHEDULE OF PLAY

Monday, May 26th

Competition will begin as early as 8:00 AM. Specific start times for each event will be posted and emailed to players approximately one week prior to the event. Every attempt will be made to have 60+ in the early morning or on the indoor courts, progressing to younger players after.

The registration cost is $40. Players may register for up to 2 events (PB charges $5/event). ***Early Birds can register by April 20th for $5 discount.*** Last day to register and be guaranteed a FREE tournament shirt is May 11th, 11:55pm.

Brackets will be split by age when registration closes if possible. Players will be emailed bracket/event details the week prior to the tournament start date. Tournament management reserves the option to combine brackets or split age brackets as necessary. If brackets are combined after event details are emailed out, awards will be based on the original bracket to which a player registered or was assigned. Tournament management also reserves the right to convert brackets to double elimination if necessary.

Skills levels include 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0+ in gender doubles and mixed doubles (no singles matches this year).

A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player (or higher) and the age group of the younger player. Age is calculated as of 12/31/2025.

RATINGS

- DUPR ratings will be used.

- Tournament Director reserves the right to move a player to a higher/lower level at their discretion. By default, players may play 'up'.

You may register and identify your partner or request "Need partner". Your partner must register within five days of your registration or the team will be moved to the wait list. When the identified partner registers after the five day grace period, the team will automatically move from the wait list back to the active list if there is a slot available and both teams have paid.

NOTE: Your spot in the tournament is not guaranteed until your partner has registered and all fees have been paid in full.

There are no referees. Matches are self-monitored. If a referee is requested, we will do our best to provide one.

This tournament adheres to the guidelines set forth in the USA Pickleball Rulebook. All gameplay, officiating, and judgment decisions during our events are based on these rules to ensure consistency and fairness for all players.

We encourage all participants to familiarize themselves with the USA Pickleball Rulebook to understand the standards and expectations that govern our games. In addition, Lizella Community Pickleball allows paddles that are on the official USA Pickleball paddle list. It is the player's responsibility to make sure their paddle is currently approved by USA Pickleball for tournament play. https://equipment.usapickleball.org/paddle-list/

If a player is found to be using unapproved equipment during tournament play, they automatically forfeit. The game will be called and a win recorded for the opposing team.

Additionally, all players will be held to the Southern Pickleball Code of Conduct which can be found on their website at southernpickleball.com/code-of-conduct.

Withdraw deadline is May 11th at midnight. Players may withdraw prior to midnight on May 11th for any reason and receive a refund minus a $15 administrative fee. After May 11th there are no refunds for any reason. This is an indoor tournament with an indoor backup. Additionally, player registration fees may not be transferred to other players.
